Watauga residents have their pick of a wide variety of entertainment options. Many local events and organizations provide plenty of things to do within the town itself, and nearby cities offer renowned cultural and educational facilities. Watauga is home to an exceptional library, the Watauga Fest, the Yard of the Month contest, the Arts Council of Northeast Tarrant County and the Northeast Tarrant County Senior Leadership Group. The Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the Amon Carter Museum, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, a first-class zoo, the Casa Manana Theater and the historic Fort Worth Stockyards are all within driving distance.
The Texas Motor Speedway (NASCAR) is located northwest of Watauga and a horseracing track is a short road trip away. Boating and other water sports are available at numerous lakes in the surrounding areas and golfers can choose from a variety of public and private courses. Dallas, only 30 miles away, is home to the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks and the State Fair of Texas – the nation’s largest state fair.
Watauga also boasts five impressive public parks that provide a place for residents to play sports, relax, host parties and attend special events. The B.I.S.D. Park offers baseball, soccer, football and basketball facilities as well as picnic benches and a walking trail. Capp Smith Park offers four pavilions with tables and grills, an amphitheater, a playground area, nine natural springs and a lake. Foster Village Park provides tennis courts, a volleyball court, the Village Community Center and the North Area Youth Association.
